Yakima Masonic Temple

Donald and I spent a night at a lovely local hotel, called Hotel Maison, owned by one of our friends.

The original building was completed in 1911 by the Yakima Freemasons.  On the 6th floor the Masons added a ceremonial temple.  They eventually moved to a new location, but the temple remains.

Our friend was kind enough to give us a tour of the 6th floor.  I knew absolutely nothing about Freemasonry or Masons, so I really had no idea what to expect when we went inide.

I was quite surprised by the grandeur of the place.  High ceilings and ornate sculptures.  Stained glass sky lights and tall columns everywhere.  No matter that I didn’t know what to expect…I wasn’t expecting this!  We arrived at just the right time for the sun to cast shadows in all the right places.  Perfect light for my camera to capture the mood of the room.
